"I have created abstracts in oils, acrylics, charcoal and handmade paper for many years. I have use full-size Stonehenge for many of my works on paper. It has incredible strength and I can scrape away at layers of acrylics, charcoal, conte, oil sticks, pastels, coloured pencils, inks, etc.

My abstracts are often larger works and many reflect my fascination with the arc. I was also influenced by the work of Mark Tobey in a series on calligraphic-like writing.Japanese wove papers for gouache paintings where I want layers of calligraphic brush strokes to remain visible.

I began making my own paper from cotton linter while completing my baccalauréat en arts visuels at the L'université du Québec à Chicoutimi in the early 1980s. These papers have held up well. The work chosen by the Canada Council Art Bank is from the handmade paper series."
